ST. ANDREWS, N.S.—The vice-principal of a school in rural Nova Scotia has raised almost $60,000 in pledges as she prepares for a cross-Canada bike ride to raise funds for childhood cancer research.
Gym teacher Suzanne Delaney says training for the 15-day, 7,000-kilometre ride is going well.
Delaney, who teaches at St. Andrews Consolidated school near Antigonish, says her school has raised more than $6,000 — and she’ll receive a cheque at an assembly Tuesday.
Delaney will be one of 43 riders taking part in the annual Sears National Kids Cancer Ride.
The event starts Sept. 9 in Vancouver.
