Who’s happier – those who have crazy schedules or those who have loads of time on their hands?

Neither, it turns out.

Researchers at the Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH, and Baylor University in Waco, TX, have found that people who have modestly full schedules are the happiest.

Time pressure is so common in our society that it’s hard not to covet those who have few pressures on their time. But the researchers who polled high school students in the American Midwest found that idle youths were no happier than those whose schedules were really full. Their findings were published in the Journal Applied Research in Quality of Life.
