Party-goer didn’t notice he’d been shot in head. For five years

There’s drunk. And then there’s “so hammered I didn’t notice I’d been shot in the head” drunk.
A Polish man living in Germany was the latter. In either “2004 or 2005.” He’s not sure which.
The unnamed man was due in hospital this week to remove what he thought was a cyst on the crown of his head. Turns out, it was a .22-calibre bullet.
Shown the pea-sized projectile, the unnamed 35-year-old told police that he vaguely recalled a sharp blow to the head at a New Year’s party some time before. He wasn’t sure exactly what year, but told them it was about five years ago.
He did recall that he was extremely intoxicated at the time.
After being shot, the man staggered home. And did nothing.
“He told us he remembered having a sore head, but that he wasn't really one for going to the doctor," a police spokesperson told Reuters.
So the toughest man in western Europe went about his business. The wound healed, but he suffered from recurring pain.
That led him to hospital and his sobering discovery. He’s expected to make a full recovery.
Police speculated that the bullet may have fallen into the man’s head after being fired in the air in celebration.
They are not treating the shooting as suspicious. Mainly because the prime suspect is described as being very, very blurry.
