All H1N1 clinics in GTA open to general public

November 17, 2009

HEALTH REPORTER

Everyone in the GTA will soon be able to get an H1N1 shot.

The public health departments in Toronto, Halton, York and Durham are opening their doors to all residents Wednesday and Peel is doing the same on Thursday.

"We have already provided more than 150,000 H1N1 shots to people in the high-priority groups through a combination of our own public clinics and our strong network of family physicians," said Dr. David Mowat, Medical Officer of Health for the Region of Peel. "It's time to move on."

Pregnant women in Halton who want the unadjuvanted vaccine will find it only at the Oakville H1N1 immunization clinic or through physicians.

In Peel, pregnant women and those with children 6 months to one year are asked to contact their doctor or Peel Public Health at 905-799-7700 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to schedule an appointment to receive the vaccine.
